Last year I switched from worldnet dialup access to dslextreme's dsl
service. One month after the new 1 year contract had been "signed", I
moved unexpectedly due to unique circumstances from Harbor City to Costa
Mesa where dsl was not yet available via dslextreme through TELCO PacBell.
dslextreme's customer support allowed me to suspend the dsl service, use
dslextreme's dialup access and reestablished my dsl service December 2002
when a remote CO (Central Office) was established in my area. Very nice
customer support.

When the dsl was restarted in Costa Mesa, three problems surfaced which
were over time resolved: (1) the "card" at the remote CO that my account
accesses had to be reinserted in its slot and was actually replaced by
TELCO PacBell; (2) modem exchanged - throughput actually improved! (3) my
router intermittent errors and was difficult to diagnose but now using a
new Netgear router. Now, no dsl problems. Fast reliable email, great
connection, usenet good as well.

I strongly advise anyone desiring broadband access to check dslreports.com
. I spent several months reading the posts and resources at this
excellent site. I choose and am extremely pleased with dslextreme. One
of my friends based on my recommendation ,
decided to go with dslexreme's dsl rather than with PacBell - he is happy
with the static IP, etc, etc.

Realize that dslextreme is not the cheapest dsl service available; I pay
an extra $5/month for unlimited dialup access in California - ie you pay
for what you use at dslextreme. dslextreme tech's support is neutral in
regard to OS with the usual range of capabilities.....

Questions? HTH.
