RESOLV2 is okay. But resolv still points to Earthlink. I know that
NSLOOKUP looks at resolv because if I manually edit resolv to point to
GTE, NSLOOKUP uses GTE.

I don't think so. I just went to TCP/IP Configuration -> Hostname and
*changed* the DNS values and saved them, and RESOLV2 was modified but
resolv still has its old file date-time stamp.
My GTE DSL backup is an Earthlink dialup account, which I test every
once in a while. "Dial Other Service Providers" has an entry for DNS
and I have *that* pointed at Earthlink's nameserver. Maybe the dialer
changes the value and it never gets switched back.

Seems like that's one of my skill sets. Would you like some training?
I've been confusing things like software, people and dogs for years.
I'm over on comp.os.os2.networking.misc with this now. Maybe somebody
else has run into this "confusion" and can help me.
