I'm using an SMC 7004BR as a cable firewall/router. It has a WAN port that you connect to your
cable/DSL modem. (IIRC the Linksys router has the same.) Your computer(s), hub(s), print server(s),
and etc. connect to the router ports.
In order to give you a more complete list-of-steps I will need:
1) Make and model of router.
2) Does your ISP use DHCP or did they gave you a static IP address?
3) Are you using static IP addresses or DHCP on your internal LAN?
4) If you have the SMC700x series router are you connecting a printer to its parallel port?
