Hello Jim, SCOUG-Help team members
and CC to: Norman's Analysis team
Some time ago I have discussed with you the problem that my WPS
istn't
restarting anymore after CHECKINI !
In the meantime I had checked and tried again and again this very
strange
behavior. I also used UniMaint and CleanINI but however and
whatever I tried:
Totally no success ;-(
Jim Read has sent me UniMaint 5.10.25 to update my current
5.10.23 to
overcome this possibly ...
... but still also no sugess ;-((
With our present discussion about "Virus Scan Program" I got
touched with an idea:
Could it be NVC ???
This morning I completely removed NVC from my system:
Deleted all entries in CONFIG.SYS and STARTUP.CMD and the whole
NVC folder
and its related folder in the WPS !!!
With UniMaint I also deleted the NVC entry !!
Then ran CHECKINI and see: SUCCESS !
After long time I have a normal restarting WPS after CHECKINI &
CleanINI without
forcing a C-A-D ;-))
I am very happy that our Virus Scan Discussion has brought my to
solve this problem
but I am not so happy about the behavior of Norman's Virus
Control ;-((
Just wanted to let you know:
Norman for sure is one of the worlds leading Virus Scanner
Supplier but NVC still
does such system deep and important bug !
Well, to know this behavior: You are able to deal with this
difficult situation and
next time we may remember (each others) about this behavior till
Norman has
eliminated this ;-))
Regards, svobi
