Possibly. You are one the edge My recollection is I started to have
trouble with the FD1680 at somewhere around 133 mHz. The FD80x and FD168x
are really old ISA-based technology. You might try slowing the ISA bus
down. Also, with only 48MB of RAM you are going to have to give eCS some
place to swap on the hard drive. So, the problem may not be the CD-ROM
although it certainly appears to be likely candidate at the moment.

Does the SCSI BIOS recognize the CD-ROM?

You might try making standard MCP install diskettes off of CD#2. This
will have none of the eCS preboot stuff.
