I have just upgraded to a new motherboard, a Tyan S2460 SMP model
although I am only running one CPU at the moment, Athlon 1.2 GHz.
I did this to get my SCSI card (Lsi SYM21002) running to it's full
potential. My prior Motherboard, an ASUS A7V133, would not work with
the second channel of the SYM21002 due to a known driver problem.
The S2460 and the SYM21002 work just fine together on both channels.

I am running eCS GA code.

The problem occurs when I try to attach an HP 5P scanner to the
external A-channel of the SYM21002. During the boot process, the
system hangs several times for several minutes at a time with the
SCSI A-channel active. I think it is in error recovery of some sort.
The modules displayed in the lower left corner of the eCS boot screen
during each of the hangs are: SYM_HI.ADD, LOCKCDR.FLT, OS2ASPI.DMD,
and JJSCDROM.DMD.

Is there any way to tell what is going on?

The 5P is connected to the SYM21002 with about a 5' SCSI cable that
came with the scanner. The manual for the 5P says that the interface
is auto-terminated. I have also tried it with an external passive
terminator. The other devices on the A-channel are a Plextor CDRW,
a Plextor CDROM, and a Conner tape drive, all on the internal side.
