Dear Steven,
I have solved my DCHP problem.
More and more, things pointed to an IRQ conflict. Finally I thought about
my motherboard.
I went into CMOS and changed a bunch of IRQ's from Legacy/ISA to PnP.
When I next rebooted, everything came up fine. I can talk to the router
and to the other computer.
Thanks for your patience and for hanging in there with me.
It was with your help that I learned enough to eventually stumble onto the
answer.
I will be getting my DSL modem next week, and I would have been sick if I
couldn't use it under OS/2!
If I can ever repay the favor, let me know.
Warm regards,
Sandy
