I thought my CD Rom drive was going bad, but there is nothing wrong with
it. It is a conflict that has developed with the RSJ CD Writer software.

If I disable my RSJ CD Writer software, specifically the file:
DEVICE=LOCKCDR.FLT

then the CD Rom works fine.

If the lockcdr.flt device is enabled, then the CD Writer works, but there
is no CD Rom drive available.

I am trying to think what is different now that could have broken my
system:

I did put in my backup motherboard, but there was no problem before when I
used this motherboard. (There was a problem with the new motherboard until
I got my SCSI card in the right PCI slot.) But PCI slots does not seem to
be a factor now -- the problem persists even with the PCI SCSI card
removed.

I have been playing with UniMaint, but I don't think that could have
broken anything?

I was thinking I could try a different IDE cable, but there is no conflict
when running Windows.

I tried an old version of DANIATAPT.FLT, but that didn't make any
difference (I had recently updated my DANI drivers).

I suppose I still shouldn't rule out that the CD Rom drive could be going
bad. Worse comes to worse I can try swapping out the drive with a
different one, but I doubt that will help.

Before I do that, I wonder if there are any other trouble shooting
suggestions.

Thanks,
Sandy
